Varvara Stepanova was an artist who, along with her husband Alexander Rodchenko, was associated with the Constructivist branch of the Russian avant-garde, which rejected aesthetic values in favour of revolutionary ones. As a main figure of the Russian avant-garde, in 1921 she started focusing on production to aid in the development of Soviet society.
